Beyonce and Jay Z Lawsuit News: A-List Couple and Timbaland Sued for ‘Drunk In Love’ Sample Vocals by Hungarian Singer

New reports are claiming that A-list celebrities Beyonce, Jay Z, and Timbaland are being sued for not obtaining permission to use a Hungarian singer's voice on the track "Drunk in Love."

"Drunk in Love" was released by Beyonce and Jay Z and produced by Timbaland in 2013. The song was a duet by the celebrity couple, but according to Mitsou, a.k.a Mnika Juhsz Miczura, her voice is on the track without her consent.

Mitsou sued Beyonce, Jay-Z and Timbaland for digitally manipulating her voice from a Roma folk song released in 1995. The Hungarian singer filed the case in Manhattan civil court and sought for unspecified damages due to the "irreparable harm and emotional distress" and "blatant unauthorized use of [her] voice for trade purposes."

The Hungarian singer has also requested to prohibit "Drunk in Love" from being played unless her voice is removed from the entire song.

According to Mitsuo, her a capella voice can be heard at the begging of "Drunk in Love" for the first 13 seconds. Her voice continues to sing in the background as Beyonce starts to belt her own vocals for 41 seconds. As Jay-Z raps, Mitsuo's voice can be heard again in the background for 51 seconds.

The singer said that the vocals came from her song "Bajba, Bajba Pélem" with folk band Ando Dom. The original track focuses on "hopelessness, when one can no longer trust anyone but her own mother and God," according to Mitsuo.

The artist stated that her voice was digitally manipulated to "to evoke foreign eroticism alongside the sexually intense lyrics."

Mitsuo has been branded to have a "unique an ethereal voice." The singer was reportedly requested by several musical stars since the 1990s for song collaboration. Despite the high demand, the artist never actually signed contracts with any musicians to use her voice even for promotional purposes.

Meanwhile, Mistuo's song "Bajba, Bajba Pélem" attained over 500,000 hits on YouTube due to the recent buzz about the lawsuit.
