'Better Call Saul' Season 1 Episode 9 Recap: Betrayal is the Name of the Game in 'Pimento'

In this week's episode of "Better Call Saul" titled "Pimento," Season 1 Episode 9, betrayal is rampant and certainly thematic.

However, first we see Mike giving his granddaughter Kaylee a puppy. He also ends up protecting Nacho, a first-time prescription drug seller. Mike's friend Pryce and fellow pill thief asks why he knew not to bring a gun to meet Nacho and help him instead.

"If you're gonna be a criminal, do your homework," Mike said. "If you make a deal with somebody, you keep it." These lines seem to resonate well with viewers as many stated throughout the Internet that this line was one of the best of the season.

Judy Berman from Flavor Wire described what Mike had said, "Mike tells Pryce that morality isn't as simple as whether you're a good guys or a bad guy - there is such a thing as a bad cop, and such a thing as a good criminal. What's important isn't to follow the rules; it's to work harder than everyone else (like Don Draper and Carrie Mathison and, yes, Walter White) and adhere to your own ethical code."

Meanwhile, Jimmy's Sandpiper Crossing case is coming along splendidly. Chuck, his brother and partner, suggests that they take the case to Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill for help. Indie Wire said, "HH&M's version of help, it turns out, is to pay off Jimmy with a finder's fee and remove him from the case."

Many told Jimmy to forge his own path rather than go with Chuck's idea. Jimmy eventually finds out that Chuck had betrayed him. Their confrontation is a heated one and Jimmy declares that he is done with the partnership with his brother, basically telling him he never wants to see him again.

The episode ends with Jimmy reflecting on all of the good times he had with Chuck, leaving viewers hungry for more.

"Better Call Saul" returns next week for its first season finale on Monday, April 6, at 10/9c on AMC.
