'Better Call Saul' New Extended Trailer, News: Saul Goodman Puts the 'Criminal' in 'Criminal Lawyer' [VIDEO]
The 'Breaking Bad' spin-off, 'Better Call Saul' will premiere in a two night special via AMC on February 8th and 9th, and the network has released a full two minute trailer on what we can expect them to deliver.
"In the latest trailer, we get a closer look at just who James is: still every bit the venal, over-the-top character we knew and loved in the first series, but not quite the two-bit, bus bench lawyer he's destined to become. He has a firm, and even if he seems corrupt, he hasn't fallen completely to the dark side," writes The Verge.
Bob Odenkirk will resume his role as Saul Goodman, or as it appears in the trailer, James McGill. Jonathan Banks will also be reprising his role as the muscle behind the lawyer, Mike Ehrmentraut.
It has also been reported that fans will have to miss the 'Breaking Bad' stars within the series, at least for the first season. The producers want to take their time in differentiating the two series. 'Better Call Saul' is not a prequel, nor sequel to 'Breaking Bad'.
Gould addressed 'Better Call Saul's relationship to 'Breaking Bad' in a panel at the Television Critics Association. "We want this show to stand on its own," he said (via Variety). "Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will not appear in season one," cites Slash Film.
GeekTyrant provides a synopsis on the show's premise:
"The series is set six years before Saul Goodman meets Walter White. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet."
"Working alongside, and, often, against Jimmy, is 'fixer' Mike Ehrmantraut, a beloved character introduced in 'Breaking Bad'. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts 'criminal' in 'Criminal lawyer'. The series' tone is dramatic, woven with dark humor."
