Benedict Cumberbatch Married to Sophie Hunter? Not Yet, But Expecting First Baby Together
'Sherlock' star Benedict Cumberbatch's publicist recently revealed that the actor is expecting a child with his fiancée Sophie Hunter.
The representative said "I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon."
Another source from the couple confirmed the pregnancy and added that the pair is excited and is getting married in Spring.
Pregnancy rumors first surfaced when Hunter wore a silk dress that appeared to cover her tummy in the 2015 Palm Springs International Film Festival early this month.
At the event, reporters asked Cumberbatch about wedding plans and he replied that he is taking it step by step since his main focus as of this time is filming 'Sherlock'.
The actor has previously expressed his thoughts about marriage in an interview with Elle Japan.
Cumberbatch said that marrying and having kids at a young age is a "wonderful thing." He added that he previously aspired to tie the knot in the middle of his 30s.
The couple got engaged two months ago and announced it in The Times newspaper. Before Cumberbatch's proposal, he went to Edinburgh to ask permission from his girlfriend's mother.
The £324 announcement reads: "Mr BT. Cumberbatch and Miss S.I. Hunter: The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London."
Prior to the engagement, the pair met in 2009 while acting together in 'Burlesque Fairytales'. They were confirmed as a couple in June 2014 when they appeared at the French Open.
After that, they are often spotted together at showbiz events such as The London Evening Standard awards and Cumberbatch's recent movie 'The Imitation Game' premiere.
On Sunday, Cumberbatch brought Hunter as his date for the 2015 Golden Globe Awards wherein he was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama.
The father-to-be is busy with his career in a string of movies including the action-drama 'Black Mass' slated for a September 2015 release.
