Ben Affleck News: Actor to Produce ‘House of Deceit’ Based on FIFA Scam for Warner Bros.

If recent reports are to be believed, the 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' star will soon be adding another feather in his cap. This time, the actor will reportedly produce a movie titled 'House of Deceit,' based on the recent FIFA scandal, for Warner Bros.

Quoting The Hollywood Reporter, Latin Post states that recently Warner Bros. has won a bidding war for the movie rights of "House of Deceit," a book penned by BuzzFeed investigative journalist Ken Bensinger, which shed light on the American FIFA executive and his role in the alleged largest sports scam ever.

While Warner Bros. is yet to close the deal, it is expected to be settled in the ensuing weeks. Affleck, who earlier directed the Academy Award-winning thriller 'Argo,' is expected to be the producer of the upcoming film. In addition, 'Elysium' star Matt Damon is expected to join him.

The movie is likely to be directed by Gavin O'Connor, who will co-write the script with Anthony Tambakis.

'Houses of Deceit' will give details of the story of FIFA Chuck Blazer, an unemployed soccer dad who went on to become a FIFA executive committee member and executive vice-president of the U.S. Soccer Federation. In addition, Blazer was also a general manger of CONCACAF, the soccer body that governs the game for North and Central America.

Blazer was arrested soon after the scandal became public and pleaded guilty to a 10-count indictment.

Meanwhile, according to NBC News, Blazer will be required to pay back $2.5 million in back taxes and penalties on millions of dollars of unaccounted income. As stated in the plea deal, Blazer earned over $11 million in unreported income, which he will be required to pay not only the taxes on, but also hefty penalties.

Several members of the FIFA committee were indicted on wire fraud, engaging in a racket and money laundering. FIFA president Sepp Blatter reportedly stepped following the arrests of his colleagues, but he recently claimed that he didn't resign.
