Ben Affleck New Movie News: 'Gone Girl' Cast Teams Up for 'Strangers on a Train' Film Adaptation

'Gone Girl' cast David Fincher, Gillian Flynn, and Ben Affleck are set to team up for the film adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's 1950 novel "Strangers on a Train."

Fincher will direct the thriller while Flynn will write the screenplay and Affleck will be the producer as well as the lead character. The movie's storyline will be slightly different from the novel since the protagonist will be a famous celebrity instead of a seasoned tennis player.

Other than that, the momentous journey of the lead character will take place on a plane instead of a train. The movie star's plane breaks down while having an Oscar campaign and a wealthy stranger offers him a ride to Los Angeles.

Highsmith's novel was first adapted in 1951 by director Alfred Hitchcock. The tennis pro Guy Haines was played by Farley Granger. Guy wanted to divorce his unfaithful wife so he can marry the love of his life, which is the senator's daughter.

During a trip on a train, he meets psychopath Bruno played by Robert Walker who is contemplating on killing his own father. Bruno suggests that they can get away with murder since there will be no motives traced if he kills Guy's wife and the tennis star kills the stranger's father. Guy unknowingly gave the psychopath an impression that he agrees and Bruno executes his part of the plan.

Fans who enjoyed the first team up of Fincher, Flynn and Affleck on "Gone Girl" will most probably enjoy "Strangers on a Train" as well. "Gone Girl" has received several nominations from Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards and Academy Awards. Although another thriller with the team behind the hit movie is good news, the upcoming film will only start production on the later part of the year.

Affleck is still busy with a string of movies including "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" scheduled for 2016 and the actor is currently filming action-thriller "The Accountant," which has no official released date yet.
