Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are getting a divorce. One of the longest lasting couples in Hollywood will soon cease to exist, after the couple officially announced their divorce on June 30th in a statement that was quite emotional.

They have three children together, and in the statement, they do not hesitate to point out that they have their children's best interests at heart, and that they plan to continue to actively co parent.

The couple released the following statement in June 30th:

"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time."

There had been rumors that the couple were going to split up for months. In fact, one of the family's neighbors told the New York Daily News that they have been living separate lives for yeas.

"Things were definitely a lot more upbeat and optimistic [in the past]," said the insider. "Now there's friction and tension between them. They're like two ships passing in the night."

This was not the only source reporting that the marriage was headed for failure. Affleck and Garner's marriage problems were also reported on by OK! Magazine, who stated that the couple had already separated and were just waiting for the right moment to announce their split.

The couple began dating in 2004 after meeting on the set of Pearl Harbor in 2001, and starring together in Daredevil.
