'Beetlejuice 2' Movie Rumors: Michael Keaton Looks to Reprise Character in Sequel Film

The sequel is finally on its way as it's been 27 years since the first "Beetlejuice" movie hit the screens. A cult favorite, there has been stirs in the rumor mill that Michael Keaton and Tim Burton have been in talks about creating a sequel. Since announced a year ago that the pair were discussing a sequel, fans of the original are still waiting. According to MTV News, the writer, Seth Grahame, has been working on the script since 2012.

Keaton says he's only on board to star again if Burton is included, "I've e-mailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff. I always said that's the one thing I'd like to do again if I ever did anything again," Keaton said, "But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another."

But that was what Keaton commented a year ago but he confirmed it to Rolling Stone magazine later that year. Since then, the rumors have turned into a little more of a reality. Director Tim Burton told Variety in late December of 2014 that the sequel isn't too far off.

"There's only one Beetlejuice, and that's Michael," Burton said to Variety staff, "I think there is now a better chance than ever. I think it's closer than ever."

As of now, no other cast members have been released nor has the actual release date. However, according to the rumor mill, it's true. "Beetlejuice 2," has a future on the big screen.
