'Beetlejuice 2' Spoilers, News: Actor Michael Keaton to Reprise Role in Sequel
Over a quarter of a century ago, the film 'Beetlejuice' swept the nation with its ghostly comedy, and fans believed that the classic would remain, forever, a stand alone movie. However, Michael Keaton, the original Beetlejuice actor, couldn't let his fans give up, and on that note, early last year, he released a statement that he would return for a sequel.
"I always said that's one thing I'd like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another," Keaton said.
Adding, "Now it looks like he is involved. And without giving too much away... if he's in, it's going to be hard not to be in."
But if this is old news to the more avid fans, here are some spoilers ther can dig their teeth into.
First, 'Beetlejuice 2' is officially a sequel, not a reboot. This means that it will be set in modern times. It will be interesting to see how the current technology will impact the film.
However, there is bad news for Keaton fans. Reportedly, Beetlejuice may not get much screen time, partially due to his busy schedule and partially due to the development of the sequel. Winona Ryder is also said to be coming back to take her old role as Lydia, but we don't know if she'll be a main character again.
Without Beetlejuice as the leading man, it will be very interesting to see how this ghostly tale takes on a new form in the sequel. As it stands, there is still no release date for 'Beetlejuice 2' as of yet.
