'Beetlejuice 2' Movie News, Cast Rumors: Michael Keaton to Reprise Role as Infamous Ghost?
Rumor has it that Tim Burton, the introverted director of the 'Nightmare Before Christmas' and 'Edward Scissorhands', is talking about 'Beetlejuice', and how he wants to bring it back to life with another movie.
Over two decades ago, the comedy film 'Beetlejuice' was released, and immediately became a hit with its iconic characters. Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam (Alec Baldwin) Maitland won our hearts as a ghost couple residing in a house in the New England area. When a family, with the young Lydia (Winona Ryder), move into the house that Barbara and Adam are haunting, the deceased couple employs the services of the dangerous Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) to scare them away.
Fans of the unforgettable ghosts are overjoyed that a sequel will bring 'Beetlejuice' and several of the 'Beetlejuice' actors back to theaters. However, Tim Burton warns fans not to think of 'Beetlejuice 2' like a sequel.
"I am not really into sequels. 'Beetlejuice' is slightly different because it's just a character that kind of is... I wouldn't even consider it a sequel. It's just its own thing," Tim says in an interview with Rolling Stone. Regardless, 'Beetlejuice 2' has attracted the attention of a new generation of ghost-lovers.
However, many fans of the original 'Beetlejuice' refuse to accept the sequel without the original team. They attribute the film's immortality to the incredible character placement of the actors. Fortunately, it seems as though director Tim Burton has exactly the same thought in mind.
On that note, 27 years after the original 'Beetlejuice', Michael Keaton has agreed to play the role of the infamous ghost Beetlejuice again. Winona Ryder has also confirmed to keep a role in the new movie. Now the only question is, when will 'Beetlejuice 2' be released?
