Bayern Munich vs. Shakhtar Donetsk Champions League Preview, Live Stream Link

Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk will face an uphill task of trying to defeat Bayern Munich when they meet for the first leg of their last-16 Champions League matchup. The good new for Shakhtar, the will have home field advantage, well, sort of.

Because of the conflict in their homeland, Shakhtar have been playing their home games some 600 miles from Donbass Arena, and in the western city of Lviv.

In the group stage, the Ukrainian champions had a better record outside of Lviv.

Said Shakhtar captain Darijo Srna, "For us, it's a big problem because we are not playing at home, we are playing away, a new arena. You don't have the same power like you have at the Donbass Arena. It is something special"”it's our stadium, it's our fans, our city."

Despite that being the case, the close to 35,000-capacity Arena Lviv is expected to be full.

Bayern, for their part, have their eyes set solely on the Champions League trophy. After being battered by eventual champion Real Madrid in last year's semis, the German club will consider anything other than a championship a disappointment.

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has such a wealth of weapons at his disposal; it's hard for anyone to figure out how he's going to approach the last-16 match.

It'll be interesting to see how the unpredictable Guardiola will utilize the likes of David Alaba, Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze, and Thomas Muller. Perhaps, the guessing game is more unpredictable than the expected Bayern win.

Shakhtar are not without talent. They wouldn't be at this point if they didn't. But even the likes of Brazilian Bernard, and Douglas Costa, along with the machinations of legendary coach Mircea Lucescu may not be enough to battle a top-form Bayern squad bent on bringing back the Champions League trophy to Germany.
