'Battlefield 2142 Revive' News: Game Brought Back By Shooter Fan Squad Again?
Players are set to play Electronic Arts' "Battlefield 2142" again, as it has been revived.
"Battlefield 2142" have been resurrected by a group of shooter fans, PC Games N has learned. As per the publication, they have brought back the game with project Revive and released it for free, allowing players to participate in the game's iconic and 64-player sci-fi combat.
As per the report, the game had 1,000 concurrent players in the past two weekends. The game reportedly has working servers, leaderboards, and in-game ranks, which are working completely.
Electronic Arts has not released any take down notice; thus, it is assumed that the game publisher does not have any issue with the game revived for free. As per reports, EA could be just happy to see the game online in some sort.
In a historical perspective, Electronic Arts shut down "Battlefield 2142" servers in 2014, preventing anyone from playing the shooter game legally at present. Now, reviving some games has become part of the trend.
According to PC Gamer, "Battlefield 2142's" revival is a "win" for Electronic Arts. As per the publication, the "The Battlefield" franchise lured players with its "Battlefield 1." It is added that the revived game's player count would not be adequate to beat the top 100 on Steam.
Players can download the game launcher and play the game on "Battlefield 2142" Revive website.
Published by Electronic Arts, "Battlefield 2142" was initially released for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS in Oct. 2006.
