'Batman vs Superman' Movie News and Rumors: Cast Latest - The Rock Joins Film as Green Lantern

Will former WWE wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson play the Green Lantern in "Batman vs Superman?" The former WWE superstar revealed via Instagram that he will appear in DC Comics film with media giant Warner Bros. However, he didn't reveal which character he would play in the film.

According to IGN, fans have suspected that another twitter post made by The Rock three months ago might have hinted which DC character he might be playing as: John Stewart also known as the Green Lantern that debut in 1972.

Here's the Instagram message posted by The Rock in November: "Known this beast since he was 15. I was on the football field playing for Miami, he was leading the Hurricanes marching band as Drum Major. He spent years of working on my WWE story lines & Rock monologues.

Then years of being on every movie set with me learning the film business from top to bottom. Today, he's one of the best and most sought after producers in Hollywood. Brilliant, relentless and one big mother****r! Proud of you brother & thank you for all the hard work. #ProducerHiram #TeamRock #JohnStewartCanStillWhupSupermansA**"

Johnson would addressed the Green Lantern in "Batman vs Superman" movie rumor by posting following tweet:

"All I said was.. #LanternCanWhupSuperman" wrote the "Fast and Furious" star to IGN on February 4, 2014.

If The Rock does agree to play as Green Lantern, he would join an all-star cast, containing Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred.

The "Batman vs. Superman" movie will arrive in theaters on July 17, 2015.
