Batman Killed in Ukraine: Security Forces Neutralize Rebel
New reports have confirmed that the rebel commander of the pro-Russia militia in Luhansk, Ukraine, has been neutralized by Ukrainian security forces. Interestingly enough, the nickname for the rebel commander is Batman.
His real name is Alexandr Bednov and he was the leader of a pro-Russian militia that went by the name of the Batman battalion in the eastern region of Luhansk. He was wanted for murder, abduction, and other crimes.
This death has been confirmed by Ukraine Security Council spokesman Volodymyr Poleviy and, while he did not provide details, the website of the separatist Luhansk People's Republic has revealed that Batman was killed by security forces.
It seems Batman or Alexandr Bednov was engaged in the work of a reserve officer for Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs. He was married with two children and is believed to have been working to restore law and order in the region with his squad.
Ukraine continues to be in turmoil ever since Russian President Vladimir Putin annexed Crimea in March and pro-Russian activists took over the cites of Donetsk and Luhansk.
The conflict has seen death of more than 4,700 last year. As per reports, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko would be meeting Russia's Vladimir Putin and the leaders of France and Germany on January 15 in Kazakhstan for discussions to resolve the issue.
