After being taken back to the mental institute in the previous episode, it seems that Norman is up for another trick in the 5^th episode of "Bates Motel" season 4.

Based on the official synopsis for the next episode, Norman is going to take advantage of his therapy session with Dr. Gupton to carry out his plans against his mother.

Titled "Refraction," the episode will show Norman playing a new set of mind games to make Dr. Gupton believe that he is not the one who's screw loose but his mother. Wanting to try to plant seeds of suspicion against Norma, Norman will begin to doubt his own tactic as soon as he realizes that he has just revealed too much.

Another significant plot point in the upcoming episode is Sheriff Romero's discovery of a crime that will tremendously impact the course of his life.

The synopsis for episode 5 reveals that Romero will play gumshoe and accidentally uncover a crime that had been committed long before. An article on Vine Report says that the crime may have something to do with the earrings of Audrey, who was killed by Norman by the end of the 3^rd season. The discovery will then make Romero think that Norman actually has an involvement in Audrey's death.

Meanwhile, Norma will hire someone to fix her broken window, which leads to the unraveling of yet another puzzle surrounding the Bates Motel.

"Bates Motel" is loosely based on the 1960's film "Psycho." Its 4^th season airs every Monday night, 9:00 P.M. on A&E.
