'Bates Motel' Season 4 Spoilers: Norman Reaches Into Madness, Norma Ready To Help Son?

Along with talks about the series' cast, Freddie Highmore also shares his thoughts about Norman going down into madness on "Bates Motel." Also, it has been revealed that Norma is ready to do wrong things for the right of her son.

Highmore plays the role of Norman in "Bates Motel," which is now on its season 4. In his interview with Parade, the actor voiced his insights on his character's mental states and what it was like to work with Vera Farmiga.

The actor said that in a sense from Norman's perspective, the character was trying to become sane while looking for an understanding of himself and his condition that would allow him to break out of the mold that fans knew, adding that that would take over him and he would be forced into the "Psycho" storyline.

Highmore also teased that the season could see Norman as a more Machiavellian person at the end of the current season. The actor also mentioned that Norman developed a sense of self-preservation above everything else, which tied into the sense of knowing he would be the survivor that made it into the film "Psycho."

Norman will be aided by his mother Norma in the series. According to Heavy, Norma is set to become more desperate to find help for Norman, even she does the wrong thing to make things right for his son.

In "Bates Motel" season 4 episode 1, entitled "A Danger to Himself and Others," Norma looked for Norman, who found himself in an unfamiliar surroundings. The episode also saw Dylan wait for new information about Emma while Romero gets a stunning disposition.

The series' episode 2, entitled "Goodnight, Mother," will see Norma and Norman each think about the other of a horrible move. The episode follows up with Dylan, who plans his future with Emma. Then, Romero chooses a path that considerably affects the Bates.

Developed by Carlton Cuse, Anthony Cipriano, and Kerry Ehrin, "Bates Motel" is an American drama-thriller television series that serves as a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 film "Psycho," which was based on Robert Bloch's novel of the same name. It centers on Norman and Norma's lives before the events portrayed in the film.

The series has a modern setting, utilizing the fictitious town of White Pine Bay, Oregon, in contrary to the Fairvale, California in the film.

"Bates Motel" season 4 episode 1 premieres on Mar.7 while episode 2 airs on Mar. 14.
