‘Ballers’ HBO Trailer News: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's New Football Drama Series [VIDEO]
The very first trailer for the football drama series starring Dwayne Johnson, "Ballers,' has been released by HBO, and fans are really excited about it.
The new TV series, which is about current and former football players, is a half-hour per episode show. Johnson stars as Spencer Strasmore, one the of retired players, who is also co-producing the show along with actor Mark Walhberg. Others on the cast are Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Rob Corddry, Troy Garity, Donovan Carter, Jazmyn Simon, Taylor Cole and LeToya Luckett.
Johnson, the retired player will be seen advising his NFL friends financially and professionally, but identifies with the trials they are going through and tries to protect them from making the same mistakes he and his teammates made, according to Deadline.
The series will center around the lives of these football players, involving their families, friends and handlers. Apparently, the series will show more than just about the professional and personal lives, as it will feature the challenges that current players face and the behind-the-scenes action with a real look into their lives both on and off the field.
The pilot, which was co-written by Steve Levinson and directed by Peter Berg, will be premiered on June 21, 2015 at 10 p.m., right after the premiere of the second season of "True Detective.'
Created by Steve Levinson ("Entourage") and produced by Mark Wahlberg ("Entourage") among others, the pilot is directed by Peter Berg ("Friday Night Lights," "Leftovers"). Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) stars as Spencer Strasmore, a retired pro-football player, who is now struggling in his new career as a financial advisor.
