'Into The Badlands' Season 2 News: AMC Series Gets Solid Viewers In Live Viewing, Playback
AMC's television series "Into the Badlands" has made a high number of viewers in its live viewing, along with three days of playback.
According to The Wrap, "Into the Badlands" season 2 had managed to land its final episode with 3.6 million total viewers. Aired on Dec. 20, the series' freshman season finale drew 2 million adults aged 18 to 49 and 2.2 million adults aged 25 to 54.
While the numbers stand as a 32 percent drop-off from the 5.3 million that the show made throughout the season, the lead-in that "Into the Badlands" received from "The Walking Dead" boosted the digits. In fact, "The Walking Dead" now stands as one of the most watched scripted entertainment show.
In his interview with The Wrap last week, AMC, Sundance TV and AMC Studios President Charlie Collier said that as a platform for series like "Fear the Walking Dead" and other series that emphasizes on the millennial audience, it was a great way to show new content and new creative visions to an audience that was already predisposed to exploring that sort of content.
For Collier, it was TV 101 to expose new content behind the largest audiences in a state.
"Into the Badlands" opened with a solid 8.2 million viewership, making it the third best cable debut, as per International Business Times. While succeeding episodes saw a decline in the number of viewers, with episode 4 as the lowest at 2.4 million viewer count, the show still proved to be the third highest rated cable series shown every Sunday.
Its 3.6 million total viewers is an indicator that "Into the Badlands" could perform well in the small screen, not to mention that the show is set to be renewed for season 2.
