'Back To The Future' Reboot News: Michael J. Fox Explains Why It Would Be Expensive For Him To Do Remake
'Back to the Future' was an amazingly successful property for a variety of reasons, and while there is still a lot of market in making a possible reboot, there are several reasons why this cannot happen.
Actor Michael J. Fox recently spoke at London Film and Comic-Con to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the movie, and in this highlighted the reason why it would be highly expensive for him to star in another reboot.
He explains:
"I wish I had a video, a gag reel of how many times I was hit by that freakin' door, the DeLorean door. Take after take, it would go, WHACK!
"It was the worst thing to drive. It had two gears and I slammed the door, and my hand would smash into the flux capacitor. My hand would be bleeding, my head would be bleeding...and I had to clean it off to get to the Family Ties set.
"The money it would take to get me back into the DeLorean again is a LOT."
Fox was ofcourse having fun, but it is a highly unlikely circumstance that a reboot would ever see the light of day. Director Robert Zemeckis recently revealed why it would technically be illegal for the studio to do so without his consent.
"Oh, God no," he said in an interview with The Telegraph. "That can't happen until both Bob and I are dead. And then I'm sure they'll do it, unless there's a way our estates can stop it."
"I mean, to me, that's outrageous. Especially since it's a good movie. It's like saying 'Let's remake Citizen Kane. Who are we going to get to play Kane?' What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?"
