'Bachelor In Paradise' Season 2 Recap: Lauren Gets A Rose and Drops a Bombshell On Week 2
Most of the Bachelor in Paradise cast started week 2 in an upbeat mood as they reveled in their roses and new-found romances. Tenley crowed, "I'm excited! I'm here!" as she flaunted the rose JJ gave her.
However, Lauren declared to her sister Ashely I. that she was in hell and that she wanted to leave. It eventually came out that she had a love interest back home, although he was attached to someone else.
This revelation cast her in many of her fellow members black lists, with some of them insisting she should go ahead and go home. Lauren capitulated that the only thing that would make her stay would be if Joshua of Kaitlyn Bristowe's season came back on.
In an ill-fated play, Ashley I. got Joshua back on set, only to have him fall for Tenley instead.
Tenley promptly forgot about JJ and accepted Joshua's date card, which ultimately sent Lauren home.
Only Ashley I. seemed upset about her departure, stating, "She's the chillest girlfriend you could ever have!"
Meanwhile, sparks flew three ways between JJ, Tenley and Joshua, with JJ still smarting over losing Tenley to Joshua. "Tenley deserves to find love and if somehow Josh and Tenley find love, I'll throw up in my mouth a little bit."
Joshua, on the other hand, seemed to be more interested in talking about partying, drugging and gambling, which some other cast members reported back to Tenley.
Tenley was shocked and broke into tears, saying "I don't have time to waste my heart on somebody else that's not right for me, but I also have all the time in the world to wait for the right one."
Another returnee to the Bachelor/Bachelorette party who didn't seem to be having such a good time this time around was Joe.
Despite his friends vouching for him, he didn't hit it off with the ladies, who thought he was a little awkward.
The attack on Joe's social skills provoked him to hit out at Clare with, "This isn't your first rodeo, is it, Clare? This is like what, your second Paradise? It's terrible."
Joe continued to cause waves by asking Juelia out with his date card. This rocked Jonathan's boat, since he and Juelia had been unofficially paired off, and Jonathan candidly spoke out about Joe's strategy, "To be honest with you, I think that Joe is just using Juelia for a rose so that he can move forward."
Initially, it didn't seem that way when Joe and Juelia seemed to hit it off on a romantic hike next to a waterfall.
They talked about Juelia's daughter, and Joe said it was, "awesome" that she was a mother.
Later, Juelia said it was, "one of the best first dates" that she'd ever been on. Joe's true colours started to show after the date, however, but Juelia was too happy to see it.
Juelia's mistake in choosing Joe over Jonathan was confirmed when he was overheard saying that his date with her had not been with the right person, and even saying that she "was not very smart". He even admitted that he was only using her to get her rose.
A few other cast members also seemed to have blinders on in week 2. Mikey, despite warnings from several other well-meaning members, stuck to Clare although she had already expressed "curiosity" over Jared, who Ashley I. seemed to think was keen on her.
The setup erupted a volcano, which had Ashley I. in tears and Mikey fuming and confronting the couple. "You want to date a girl eight years older than you?" he threw at Jared, and when that was shrugged off, he turned to Clare accusing her of "disrespecting" him. She didn't rise to the bait.
It remains to be seen who will be left standing with whom when the smoke clears next week.
