B.B. King Death News: 'The King of Blues' Passes Away at the Age of 89
On May 14th, 2015, musical legend B.B. King died in his home to the dismay of many of his adoring friends, family, and fans; he passed away in his sleep at his home in Las Vegas at 9:40 pm.
The singer was diagnosed with Type II diabetes over 20 years ago, and was admitted to the hospital on in April of this year because of a diabetes related health emergency, says TMZ.
In 2014, he dealt with similar medical issues. He was forced to cancel eight performances because of exhaustion and dehydration, which was also linked to his condition.
King first got his big break in 1949, and since then he has taken on the moniker "The King Of Blues."
King announced a farewell tour in 2006 when he was 80 years old, but he still continued to perform, being featured at events such as the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, The Glastonbury Music Festival, New Orleans Jazz Festival, and many many more.
He has been hailed across the globe as one of the most successful and influential blues guitar players of all time.
The musician was married two times, once to Sue Carol Hall, and later on to Martha Lee Denton; both of his marriage only last eight years before ending in divorce.
He also claimed to have been the father of 15 children with several different women during his life.
King has been honored as an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, and has also been given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammys.
The star has even received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President George W. Bush. May he rest in peace.
