Award-Winning Film 'Noble' Details the Heroic Life of Christina Noble Who Rescues One Million Children in Vietnam [VIDEO]
They broke everything but her spirit. They took everything but her dream. 'Noble', the harrowing true story of Christina Noble, recounts the fearless life and reckless love of one Irishwoman who rescued nearly one million street children in Vietnam.
As a young woman, Christina Noble began having dreams and visions of Vietnam, a country half a world away. Even after unthinkable adversity in her early life, Christina escapes the slums of Ireland, follows her dream, and journeys to Vietnam in 1989 at the age of 44. There she encounters the horrifying poverty and loss of innocence of thousands of street children.
Rather than retreat, she does whatever it takes to save these children's lives. "It's a story about the triumph of the human spirit over adversity," said Deirdre O'Kane, who depicts Christina in the film.
The biopic will open in theaters May 8, 2015 by Aspiration Media and stars Deirdre O'Kane (Moone Boy, Paths To Freedom), Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey, The Raven, Ailsa), Sarah Greene (The Guard, The Cripple of Inishmann), and Liam Cunningham (Game Of Thrones, Hunger, Safe House).
In honor of Christina Noble's brave spirit and determination, Aspiration Media is celebrating other women who demonstrate the same resilience and generosity through an initiative titled #SHEISNOBLE. Women dedicated to a life of courage and compassion can be nominated at SheIsNoble.com where a team of professional writers, podcasters, and videographers may tell her story. A grand prize winner, who will be announced in early May, will receive $10,000 towards her work, and the person who nominated her will win a trip for two to Ireland.
Christina Noble is the founder of The Christina Noble Children's Foundation (www.cncf.org), which has built more than 100 projects across Vietnam and Mongolia, helping to improve the lives of nearly one million children and their families since 1991.
