'Avengers: Age of Ultron' News: Stars Renner & Evans Apologize for Bad Black Widow Joke
Stars of "Avengers: Age of Ultron,' Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner, recently apologized to their fans after making a sour comment about the character Black Widow in a promotional interview.
During a promotional interview, the stars were asked how they felt about Black Widow, the super-spy played by Scarlett Johansson, having a romantic relationship with Bruce Banner, the scientist played by Mark Ruffalo who turns into Hulk.
The pair were asked this question to see if they thought either of their characters would be seen getting romantically involved with the character Black Widow. Renner, who plays the character of Hawkeye, replied by saying, "She's a s**t."
Evans, who plays the character of Captain America, echoed his statements by saying, "She's a complete w***e. I was going to say something along that line ... a complete w***e." Renner added, saying, "She has a prosthetic leg anyway," according to Digital Spy.
Both the actors, later apologized for their comments. Evans sent in a statement to the Entertainment Weekly, which said, "Yesterday we were asked about the rumors that Black Widow wanted to be in a relationship with both Hawkeye and Captain America. We answered in a very juvenile and offensive way that rightfully angered some fans. I regret it and sincerely apologize."
Renner also sent in a statement through USA Today, which said, "I am sorry that this tasteless joke about a fictional character offended anyone. It was not meant to be serious in any way. Just poking fun during an exhausting and tedious press tour."
Soon after the comments were made, the social media sites went wild with comments disapproving the statements made by the stars, but there were comments and tweets that supported the actors' statements saying they were merely sarcastic comments.
But as soon as the apologies came on board, the public pacified and accepted the stars' apologies.
