'Avatar' 2, Sequels News: James Cameron - 48 Frames Per Second System is 'A Little More Mature'

Director James Cameron talked about the upcoming three sequels to the 'Avatar' film in an interview and told fans that they're going to be super excited with what they're going to see up on the big screen.

The director revealed a few details about his upcoming film during the exclusive interview, confirming the film's 48 frames per second, and also talked about his writing team and 'The Hobbit' director Peter Jackson.

The first film in the series, 2009's 'Avatar', was filmed with 60 frames per second and rumors have been circulating that the sequels will appear in the same frame rate. However, Cameron stated that they were instead going to use 48 frames due to the use of a system that was "a little more mature."

Cameron also mentioned that the films were divided into two scripts and divided among himself, Amanda Silver, Shane Salerno, Rick Jaffa and Josh Friedman. He talked about his process saying that the team met for seven months to talk about and whiteboard all the scenes in the film before assigning the writing process only until the very last day.

The director explained, "I knew if I assigned them their scripts ahead of time, they'd tune out every time we were talking about the other movie."

Cameron also made mention of fellow director Peter Jackson. He credited Jackson and his writing team consisting of Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh for the line in the film "I see you," the words were uttered by Neytiri to Jake.

The first sequel to 'Avatar' is slated for a theatrical release in Dec. 2016 and will be followed by the second and third sequel on 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Several actors from the first film will reprise their roles for the sequels, such as Sam Worthington who plays Jake Sully, Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine and Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch.
