'Avatar 2' Cast News: Col. Quaritch Joins 'Avatar' To Its Second Sequel
"Avatar 2" and the two other sequels of the box office hit will still see Col. Quaritch, who was initially supposed to have been killed in the first movie.
Since it was confirmed that "Avatar" will have three sequels, fans have looked forward to the return of his character, who is undeniably one of the main reasons moviegoers loved the first installment of the film. Played by Stephen Lang, Col. Quaritch is the greedy villain in the first "Avatar" film.
It was previously confirmed that the actor will be back not just in the upcoming installment. Lang even added more anticipation for the upcoming sequels when he revealed in a recent interview that he will join the cast not just of "Avatar 2" but of the two other sequels as well.
In his interview with Mashable, the actor said, "Well, I can say because it's a matter of public record, that the character of Col. Quartich is important in each of the films--Avatar 2, 3, 5 and 5."
His statements led fans to assume that his character will continue to appear in the world of Pandora until the last sequel. It remains to be seen, however, if he will still be a villain when the future installments hit the big screen.
Despite being a villain, Col. Quaritch was loved by "Avatar" fans and will certainly be one of those characters they will regret to lose. In the first film, he left a significant mark on some of its major characters, such as Jake and Neytiri. According to reports, he was not killed off in the first installment because his character is needed in making up the perfect storyline that will make fans want to watch the film over and over again.
"Avatar 2" is kicking off production in 2017 and is slated for release in December 2018.
