Australian Open 2015 Update: Semis Complete Madison Keys Takes Out Venus Williams

Just a day after 14-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal was swept out of the 2015 Australian Open by Czech Tomas Berdych in three sets, Venus Williams was the next big name to get booted out of the Grand Slam when American teenager Madison Keys continued on her dream run beating Williams 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

The 18th seed Williams jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the third set, but Keys fought back winning three straight breaks to close out the match and advance to the semis.

"It's amazing. You just have to embrace the moment, and I get to enjoy another moment in the next round," Keys said after the match.

She's not done yet with the Williams family, as she faces top-seed Serena, who won in straight sets in her own quarterfinals match.

Keys and the five-time Australian Open champion meet on Thursday, January 29 for their semi-finals matchup.

Also playing that day are two Russians battling for a finals seat as No. 10 seed Ekaterina Makarova takes on No. 2 Maria Sharapova.

In the men's semifinals, Berdych looks to stretch his run into the finals when he faces No. 6 Andy Murray.

The Englishman booked his semi-final seat when he clinically disposed of Australian teenage crowd darling Nick Kyrgios last Tuesday.

In the other bracket of the men's singles, No. 4 Swiss Stan Wawrinka won in straight sets against No. 4 Kei Nishikori of Japan 6-3, 64, 7-6 (8-6).

"There is no easy match. For sure it's going to be a tough one, btu so far I'm playing well and so happy to be back in the semifinals," said Wawrinka who will be making his second straight final four appearance in the Grand Slam.

He'll be facing No. 1 Novak Djokovic who made easy work of No. 8 Milos Raonic 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 6-2.

The remaining action of the 2015 Australian Open will be broadcast on WatchESPN, while the Australian Open website will be providing coverage throughout.
