'Attack on Titan' Season 2 Release Date, Manga News: Next Season To Veer Away From Manga Origins

"Attack on Titan" season 2 will reportedly veer away from its manga origins.

It was previously speculated by fans that the upcoming season of "Attack on Titan" will remain faithful to its manga counterpart; however, recent reports claim otherwise.

While it is still uncertain as to when the new season of the manga will exactly arrive, rumors about it have continued to swirl around since the past couple of months, and one of the biggest bones of contention among fans is whether or not the new season will remain faithful to its manga origins.

In the past months, fans speculated that the anime will deal with the events in its manga origins, but many were disappointed when news came out that it will veer away from its manga counterpart.

"Attack on Titan 2" is still going to follow the lives of Eren, Mikasa, Armin and Levi, as well as their friends from the Survey Corp, but since the first installment did not tackle how the Titans came to be and how the walls were developed, it is now speculated that the upcoming season will center on the backstory of the Titans.

There are also rumors that season 2 will introduce more titans, but it remains unknown whether they would be friends or foes. One of them is allegedly Zeke, who has the ability to shape-shift into a titan just like Eren. Unlike Eren, however, he can control himself once he has already transformed.

"Attack on Titan" season 2 is expected to air in spring of 2017.
