'Attack on Titan' Premiere News: Movie Lands a Release Date in U.S. Theaters
It's safe to say that the live-action trailer for the upcoming 'Attack on Titan' movie was met with extreme satisfaction from both Japanese and American audiences alike.
While the two films was slated for release in August for audiences in Japan, a release date for the states wasn't yet announced until now.
Part I has been announced to reach theaters on September 30 and Part II will follow on October 20.
CEO and president of Funimation Gen Fukunaga, recently released this statement:
"Fan reaction to Attack on Titan was extremely positive at the world premiere and we're pleased to be able to announce dates for the theatrical releases in September and October. Attack on Titan is a worldwide phenomenon and we are excited to bring the live action movies to not only fans of the manga and anime but also horror fans as well from across the U.S. and Canada."
Films produced outside of the U.S. are seldom to be seen in the country's theaters, which only attest to the immense popularity of this hit anime series.
Here's the synopsis:
"Based on the popular manga series of the same name, takes place in a world where the remnants of humanity live inside a series of connected cities, isolated by enormous walls. These walls exists to keep the Titans out, gigantic humanoid creatures who devour humans seemingly without reason. These Titans have reduced the world's population to staggeringly low numbers. The three main protagonists of Isayama's manga are Eren Jaeger, his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert. Their lives are changed forever when a 'Colossal Titan' breaches the wall protecting their town, leading to the death of Eren's mother. Vowing revenge and to reclaim the world from the Titans, Eren, Mikasa and Armin join the Survey Corps, an elite group of soldiers who fight Titans outside the walls."
