Atlanta Hawks NBA 2015 News: Kyle Korver Out of the Playoffs with Severely Sprained Ankle

The Atlanta Hawks feared the worst when DeMarre Carroll appeared to seriously injure his knee in the fourth quarter of Game 1, and while he did return to play in their Game 2 loss, the Hawks saw Kyle Korver severely sprain his ankle during a loose ball scramble. And now, they will be without their best outside threat for the rest of the playoffs, the Associated Press reports.

"We will miss him. It's very, very difficult for him personally, but more so for how much this team has done together, how much he's been part of that. He's a huge part of our leadership, our fiber," Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said.

Initial X-rays after Game 2 were negative, but as the AP report states, the follow-up MRI and examination at Peachtree Orthopedic Clinic confirmed a severe high-ankle sprain. Korver will see a foot and ankle specialist to determine the best course of treatment.

Korver has noticeably struggled with his shot this postseason with teams using hyper focus defensively to contain his off ball movement. His three point shooting is down to just 35.5 percent after shooting a blistering 49 percent during the regular season. He's also just shot 39 percent overall. His struggles have been a key part of why the Hawks haven't played the way they did during the season in which they got the best record in the East.

When asked whom he would bring up to replace Korver, Budenholzer said, " Bazemore is obviously someone we'll consider, who has the potential to start. We usually sub in Baze in for Kyle early in the first quarter, so they've played together a fair amount. They'll play together more now, whether Kent starts or not."
