Asus ZenFone 2 Release Date, Specs News: 4GB RAM, Arrives March 2015

Taiwanese tech manufacturer Asus has introduced its latest flagship smartphone Asus ZenFone 2 at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The company is well-known for manufacturing computer peripherals like motherboards and graphic cards and has now ventured into the smartphone market.

Asus ZenFone 2 comes with Intel's Atom Z3580 chipset featuring a 64-bit capable quad-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. However, the main highlight of this smartphone is that Asus ZenFone 2 is the first ever mobile phone that will come with 4GB of RAM.

Much like the smartphones belonging to the Samsung's Galaxy lineup, Asus has been successful in lowering the manufacturing costs of the ZenFone 2, as it has incorporated a plastic casing for the handset. Moreover, instead of a quad HD display for the 5.5-inch device, Asus opted for a 1080p resolution.

According to Christian Today, in addition to the ZenFone 2, Asus also showcased the ZenFone Zoom during the 2015 CES.

The ZenFone 2 as well as ZenFone Zoom comes with a rear camera having a maximum image resolution of 13 megapixels. However, the only difference between the two handsets is that the ZenFone Zoom is much slimmer and its rear camera comes with a 3x optical zoom. In addition, the rear camera of the ZenFone Zoom includes features like a laser autofocus feature as well as an optical image stabilization chip. These features are likely to improve the general image quality of the camera.

According to the report, Asus has announced that it will launch the ZenFone 2 in March and it will be available for just $199. This is an incredible price considering the fantastic specifications of the device. On the other hand, the ZenFone Zoom will be priced higher at $399 and the device will be launched during the second quarter of 2015.
