Taking advantage of the narcissists' fascination with selfies, Taiwanese tech manufacturer ASUS has recently launched a new smartphone that has been optimized for taking selfies. The latest device, unveiled at the Computex conference in Taipei recently is a new model of ASUS' ZenFone line of Android smartphones.

What is more interesting is that the new handset has been named 'Selfie'!

According to Tech Radar, the new smartphone possesses the aptitude to indulge the user, especially if he/ she are sticklers about taking their portraits, for instance, the 'beautification mode.'

While introducing the ZenFone Selfie at the conference, ASUS design center director Jen Chuang remarked, "I know I am not the only narcissist in this room."

As far as the features of the Selfie phone is concerned, it comes with cameras on both the front and back of the device with a 'beautification mode' meant for making people look better in their photos. The front-facing camera is impressive with 13-megapixels.

ASUS design center director elaborated, "It makes my skin tone look more even, the lines softer - it's like wearing digital makeup." She added that the 'real tone' flash of both the cameras of the device is "like having a personal spotlight."

The new device also comes with a 'selfie button' that can be pressed easily with an index finger, allowing users to click the shutter just as they may possibly change the volume of their music.

The 'selfie mode' of the device can be activated by simply drawing an 'S' on the home screen of the phone. In addition, the phone comes with a 'selfie panorama mode' to allow users capture more background in 140-degree selfie shots.

The ZenFone Selfie features a revolving 'swing' accessory that adds a few more inches between a selfie taker and the phone, which actually makes up for a selfie-stick.

ASUS is also offering a 'MyView' cover for the 'Selfie' phone. This cover would conceal the entire screen except for a small circular window for previewing selfie shots. This accessory comes with the tagline: "Snap your selfie, view your beauty".
