Asus, the multinational Taiwanese electronics company, unveiled a mid-range dual-SIM smartphone called Pegasus 2 Plus (model number X550) at an exhibition in China last weekend.

Quoting a report in GSM Arena, IB Times reports that the Asus Pegasus 2 Plus sports a 5.5-inch full HD screen, supporting a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, including a 64-bit octa-core processor, while the SoC is backed by 3 GM of RAM.

The fact that Pegasus 2 Plus uses the Snapdragon 615 chipset is an indication that the newly unveiled handselt come in the mid-range smartphone category. The device comes with a 13 megapixel primary rear camera, in addition to an 8 front-facing megapixel shooter.

The Pegasus 2 Plus will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box, overlaid with Asus' home-made Zen UI. Incidentally, the Pegasus 2 Plus will be the first Asus device to receive the most recent Android version. The handset will house an impressive 3,030 mAh battery unit.

The latest Asus handset will come in two color variants - gold and white. According to a report in Phone Arena, as the Pegasus 2 Plus since it is a dual-SIM device, it may be available readily in the Western markets. However, Asus is yet to disclose the official price of the new device.

Meanwhile, the rumor mill is abuzz with reports regarding the specifications of another entry level smartphone from Asus - dubbed as the Asus ZenFone Go. While Asus is yet to unveil the device officially, a lot of details on the ZenFone Go have already been revealed.

It is expected that the Asus ZenFone Go will feature a 5-inch screen with support for HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. As far as the software is concerned, the device will be powered by the MediaTek MT6582 chip, including a quad-core processor and Mali-400 MP2 graphics.

While the Asus ZenFone Go is being promoted as an entry-level model, the chipset of the device comes with 2 GB of RAM, and its internal storage capacity is 8 GB. The device comes with a primary 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front-facing snapper for selfies.
