Asus Zenfone Release Rumors: Tech Titan to Unveil New Budget Smartphone Zenfone Go in July?

Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer Asus has already launched over 12 mid-range variants of its flagship handset Zenfone and now it is planning to launch another one this month. According to a report originating in Russia, Asus is looking to bring a new mid-range handset dubbed as Zenfone Go ZC500TG in late July.

According to Tech Radar, Asus may price the Zenfone Go in the range of $150 with a view to compete with other low cost smartphones currently available in the market, especially the handsets released by its Chinese rivals Xiaomi and Lenovo.

Another report in the IB Times states that Asus has apparently incorporated MediaTek quad-core SoC (System on Chip) or the or the budget Snapdragon 410 chipset with 2GB RAM and 8GB inbuilt memory into the upcoming handset with a view to cut costs. The Zenfone Go is expected to sport a 5-inch 720p HD screen and feature an 8 megapixel primary rear camera alongside a front-facing 2 megapixel snapper for selfies.

According to the report in the Russian technology blog Mobil TeleFon, Zenfone Go may possibly run on Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Different from the other handsets in the Zenfone 2 series, the new Asus smartphone will only support 3G network. This is an indication of the fact that the upcoming Zenfone model may possibly be released mainly in emerging markets where the infrastructure for 4G connectivity is still in its nascent stage.

All said and done, Asus is yet to officially respond to the rumors regarding the Zenfone Go on the internet. The specs mentioned above will have to be considered as rumors until the company clears the air regarding the rumors.
