'Assassin's Creed Syndicate' Gameplay News: No Multiplayer Mode in Upcoming Ubisoft Title

Here is some disappointing news for 'Assassin's Creed' series fans, as developer Ubisoft has decided to drop the multiplayer mode in the upcoming game. Recently, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemon confirmed that unlike the previous versions of the game, the upcoming title will not have the multiplayer mode.

'Assassin's Creed Syndicate' will be released for the current generation consoles on Oct. 23, while a PC version will follow after.

Latin Post quotes Guillemon saying at a recent investor call, "This game will be single-player... You don't have a multiplayer mode on this iteration because we want to spend all our time on making sure the single-player is excellent. And it's coming along extremely well."

According to Polygon, while 'Assassin's Creed Sydicate' will not feature any co-op mode, Ubisoft CEO said that they will certainly consider it for future titles. Guillemon said, "We don't know and we can't say yet - er, we know, but we can't say yet about what will happen next."

Meanwhile, talking to Game Informer, Ubisoft creative director Marc-Alexis Cote said that the company wants to concentrate on single-player mode, as it was instrumental in the success of 'Assassin's Creed.' Cote explained, "It's really about returning to our roots," adding, "Returning to what made this series such a success. For us, it's truly the single-player experience, and investing in that that's going to make Assassin's Creed feel more modern and fresh for our players."

According to reports, the game's executive producer Francois Pelland also confirmed Cote's statement and noted that the "melee fight" design of the game encouraged them to concentrate on a single-player campaign and strengthen it.

Talking to Game Spot, Pelland said, "We felt like, especially with the type of fight that we have, a very hand-to hand, very close combat fight, that we needed to have very high responsiveness on the system." The executive producer added, "That's one thing. It's navigation as well. When we decided two years and a half ago, we said, let's do London 1868. You cannot have vehicles that are just cosmetic. You drive those things. That adds complexity to the thing. It's more technical reasons."

In fact, the previous title, 'Assassin's Creed Unity,' received mixed reviews when fans expressed their disappointment with the game. The developers were confronted with bugs as well as several technical concerns after the video game was released.
