'Assassin's Creed' Movie Cast News: Michael Fassbender Talks Upcoming Film and its Production

The 'Assassin's Creed' movie has officially entered production and will be moving forward with Michael Fassbender as its lead.

Fassbender has commented about his interest in the film despite never actually playing the popular gaming franchise.

"...I'd heard of it but had never played the game," Fassbender said, "I don't have a video game player ... that's not what they're called. [Laughs] I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting-the idea of reliving memories."

Not much has been revealed about the movie's premise, so it isn't certain if the adaptation will follow the game's original storyline.

"Talking about the movie last year, Fassbender said the Assassin's Creed film will be respectful of the game. At the same time, however, the actor pointed out that 'we also want to bring new elements to it and perhaps our own vision of things that already exist in the game'," writes Gamespot.

The movie will also be directed by Justin Kurzel, who has previously worked with Fassbender on 'Macbeth'.

'Assassin's Creed' will be Ubisoft's first venture into the cinema world but they have announced future projects they have planned.

"Ubisoft has a total of six movies in the pipeline. In addition to Assassin's Creed, the Paris-based publisher is making movies based on its Far Cry, Rabbids, Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon franchises. In all instances, Ubisoft will retain creative control through its Ubisoft Motion Pictures group," writes Gamespot.
