'Assassin's Creed' Movie Cast News: Marion Cotillard to Star in Upcoming Video Game Based Film

Two films with a lot of anticipation riding on them, Assassin's Creed and Deadpool, made more casting choices this weekend.

Marion Cotillard, most known for her roles in The Dark Knight Rises and Inception, will star alongside Michael Fassbender in the film adaption of the highly successful video game series Assassin's Creed.

Gina Carano, known for her roles in Fast and Furious 6 and Haywire, will play alongside Ryan Reynold's in the highly anticipated film adaptation of the comic book series Deadpool.

Cotillard's role in Assassin's Creed has yet to be decided. She and Fassbender have starred together before in an adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth, which is to be aired sometime this year.

The director of this adaptation, Justin Kurzel, will also be directing Assassin's Creed. The film is set to be released on December 21, 2016.

Gina Carano's character is known as Angel Dust. In the comics, this character is most known for her part in the underground mutant group called The Morlocks. Tim Miller will direct this Marvel project, and production for this film is to start in March. The film is scheduled to release on February 12, 2016.

For those who are not familiar with Assassin's Creed series, the first game revolves around a rivalry between the secret societies the Assassins and the Knights Templar. The main character, Desmond Miles, (who will be played by Michael Fassbender) finds his way into the Assassin's group and uses stealth throughout the game.

The Deadpool will be based on the comic book series with the character of the same name (to be played by Ryan Reynold's). Deadpool becomes a witty, loudmouthed mercenary after a failed experiment to rid him of his life threatening cancer.

The announcement of Cotillard and Carano to join these two films is another small but monumental step into the right direction.
