'Assassin's Creed' Movie 2016 Sneak Peek, Latest News: Michael Fassbender Plays Callum Lync?
The iconic character, Callum Lynch and his epic adventures in Ubisoft's popular action and adventure video game series entitled "Assassin's Creed" is now transitioning to the big screen. The adaptation from the game will be released in the latter part of 2016.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the film follows the story of Callum Lynch, played by Michael Fassbender. He is a member of a mysterious secret society and he's in a quest to bring back his genetic memory for him to experience the life of an ancient Assassin called "Aguilar" through the use of his Animus, a virtual reality machine rediscovered, developed, and sold by Abstergo Industries.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Fassbender has never played the game prior to getting the leading role in the adaptation.
"I've played it since [being offered the job] mainly to get an idea of the physicality of the character. We're striving to find something special. We believe the whole concept around it is special and want to service that the best we can," he said according to Latin Online.
After playing the game for quite a while, the 38-year-old actor said that he learned that a lot of parkour and close quarters fighting are involved and to make the scenes of the film look like the ones in the video game, he must learn how to do those on top of other things.
"I've learned how to roly poly, tumble turn," Fassbender said, laughing. "Stuff you can do in everyday life. Like cartwheels. No - just basic fight choreography stuff. I did some horse stuff today. So stuff like that."
The "Assassin's Creed" movie is set to hit theaters on December 21, 2016.
