'Ash Vs. Evil Dead' News: Bruce Campbell Says Series Will Prompt More Movies
'Ash vs Evil Dead' will not only mark the return of actor Bruce Campbell in his most familiar role, but redefine the horror genre for television.
The show plans to make its big premiere on Starz later this fall and in the Television Critics Association's semi-annual press tour on Friday, the actor dropped a bit more details on the highly anticipated series.
"It would be silly of us to rip the fans off by doing a watered-down version of the series," he said. "If this came out as a movie, it would be unrated. ... The beauty of working with Starz is we have no content restriction whatsoever."
"Most zombie films or TV shows have to do with the monsters being the stars," director Sam Raimi added. "We have a show that stars a monster fighter, a hero, one of us. We can identify with him."
Campbell also attested to how much blood will be on the show, which has been a commonly asked question regarding 'Ash vs Evil Dead.'
"How much blood is there going to be?" Campbell said. "I went blind the other day shooting a scene. That's how much blood there is on the show. I've been gagged once and I went blind."
With popularity gaining around the horror franchise once again, the actor tells fans to get prepared for even more movies.
"This season will force us to make more movies," Campbell explained. "No matter what we say to them or what we give them, it will never be enough, and we're very grateful for that."
'Ash vs Evil Dead' plans to premiere on Halloween night.
