'Ash vs Evil Dead' Cast News: Lucy Lawless Tapped to Co-Star in Series

The upcoming Starz series 'Ash vs Evil Dead' has picked up the 'Spartacus' alum for their growing all star cast. Lucy Lawless will reportedly play Ruby, a "mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent evil outbreaks. The only problem: she believes that Ash is the cause of it all," writes The Hollywood Reporter.

The series will not only mark the actress' return to the network, but with producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert who she worked with in both 'Xena: The Warrior Princess' and 'Spartacus'.

She currently accompanies Jill Marie Jones, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, and of course Bruce Campbell to the so far confirmed cast.

"Bruce Campbell will reprise his role as the title character Ash, a stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the past three decades avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons - personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its evil grip," writes The Hollywood Reporter.

Production hopes to start shooting the 10-episode 'Ash vs Evil Dead' series this spring and premiering it late 2015.
