'Arrow' Season 5 News & Update: New Season To Honor Laurel's Legacy

"Arrow" season 5 will honor in a very grand way the legacy of Laurel, who died in the previous season.

Black Canary's memory will live on as Star City unveils her statue in season 5. The actress behind the costumed crime fighter, Katie Cassidy, will make a comeback in season 5 to reveal what Laurel told Oliver before she died.

Oliver must face things as they are next season and accept the fact that things will no longer be the way they used to be. Much has happened over the course of five months, including the introduction of several new villains setting their eyes on Green Arrow, like "The Wire's" Chad L. Coleman as a gangster.

Aside from Coleman, other new fresh faces who will join the cast of season 5 are Doplh Lundgren as a major enemy in the Russia flashbacks, "Popular's" Carly Pope as a reporter from Coast City, "Chicago P.D.'s" Josh Segarra as D.A. Adrian Chase a.k.a. Vigilante, "Reaper's" Rick Gonzalez as the Wild Dog of the DC Comics, "The McCarthy's" Tyler Ritter as SCPD Detective Malone, "Blindspot's" Joe Dinicol as Rory Regan a.k.a. the vigilante Ragman, and former WWE grappler Cody Rhodes.

Meanwhile, "Arrow" star Stephen Amell recently teased that season 5 will feature more action and will see a return to the show's roots. Producer Wendy Mericle also revealed that the theme of the upcoming season will be all about legacy and will focus on Oliver being torn between his duties as a mayor and as a vigilante.

"Arrow" season 5 premieres on October 5, 8:00 P.M. on The CW.
