'Arrow' Season 4 Spoilers, News: New Love Interest for Oliver in Upcoming Season [VIDEO]

Fans of the popular The CW television series, 'Arrow', will be disappointed to know that while the Season 3 ended showing a promising relationship between Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), there are indications that the main hero of the series will have a new love interest.

According to a report in IB Times, The CW has signed on 31-year-old actress Elysia Rotaru, who has featured in guest roles in 'Supernatural' as well as the pilot episode of 'Zombie,' to joint the cast for a regular role - the new love interest of Oliver. In 'Arrow' Season 3 finale, fans saw Oliver and Felicity eventually riding off into the sunset, but there may be new twists in their relationship in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, E! Online reports that Rotaru's character will only be shown in flashbacks, as someone who existed in Oliver's life in the past. The CW is being cautious to ensure that details of her character are kept under a secret until the show debuts on Oct. 7. However, this has not prevented 'Arrow' executive producer Marc Guggenheim from dropping a tiny tease regarding the new casting.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Guggenheim said, "Oliver is going to have a love interest in the past that will serve as a parallel or potentially a contrast to his love affair with Felicity in the present." Entertainment Weekly notes that to some extent, these comments echo what Guggenheim previously revealed regarding the new season, referring to the casting of a new villain.

Even as the role of Rotaru in the series remains shrouded in mystery, she will be joining an already cramped cast which is getting even bigger in Season 4. The Hollywood Reporter states that Rotaru is the latest packed into the DC TV universe pile, which already comprises Jimmy Akingbola (Baron Reiter), Neal McDonough (Damien Darhk), Alexander Calvert (Lonnie Machin/Anarky) and Echo Kellum (Mister Terrific).

Moreover, it is expected that the show creators will use an 'Arrow'/ 'The Flash' crossover as a backdoor pilot to introduce Falk Hentschel (Carter Hall/ Hawkman) and Danish actor Casper Crump (Vandal Savage) before they spin-off into their own series 'Legends of Tomorrow' in 2016.

'Arrow' Season 4 premieres on The CW on Oct. 7 at 8:00 p.m. EDT.
