'Arrow' Season 4 Cast News: Show Plans on Introducing First LGBT Character
'Arrow' plans on bringing things full circle in the upcoming fourth season of the show with not only a new hero for Starling City, but some new characters and villains.
Along with Damien Darhk, it has recently been confirmed through a panel at Comic-Con that characters Mr. Terrific, and Anarky, a classic Batman villain, will appear in the upcoming season. Showrunner Marc Guggenheim stated:
"Oh, new characters, well, uh we've got a few. We've got a gentleman who will be joining Damien [Dark]. Batman fans know him as Anarky and you know one of the things we like to do on Arrow is tell the secret origins of various characters. You get to see how Roy Harper became Arsenal, Laurel became the Black Canary, Thea became Speedy. This year we wanted to introduce a new character to Arrow, Mr. Terrific."
It was also said that this iteration of Mr. Terrific would be gay, which would be marking the first character to be portrayed as such in the series.
"He's gonna work with Felicity, be a good friend of her's. We're often asked when we're gonna add another LGBT character to the show and our version of Mr. Terrific happens to be gay."
Damien Darhk has been confirmed to be the big bad of the upcoming season, as he was referenced by Ras Al Ghul in the previous.
"Created in the pages of Titans (1999) #1 by Devin Grayson and Mark Buckingham, Damien Darhk was first mentioned in Season 3 of Arrow by Ra's Al Ghul, who said that Darhk has a "hive of supporters" around the world," writes IGN.
'Arrow' season 4 plans to premiere on October 7 on CW.
