'Arrow' Season 3, New Cast News: Actor Doug Jones Casted as Deathbolt for Episode 19
CW's 'Arrow' has just cast their next infamous DC villain to appear in an upcoming episode portrayed by none other than actor Doug Jones. Jones will be taking on the role as Deathbolt, a villain with the ability to manipulate electricity.
"In DC comics, Jake Simmons/Deathbolt, first introduced in All-Star Squadron #21 in 1983, was a villain with the power to manipulate electricity. In Arrow, Jake Simmons will be a metahuman with the ability to harness and weaponize plasma energy," writes IGN.
The idea of metahumans were initially not to be entertained on 'Arrow' and left to its neighboring series, 'The Flash', but the producers have recently been experimenting with the idea, as the shows already share a universe.
However its uncertain if the villain will receive his powers from the particle accelerator explosion from 'The Flash', or if the superpowers will be totally separated.
This will mark the first episode a full-fledged metahuman will appear on 'Arrow', disregarding the Mirakuru soldiers that were featured in Season 2.
"Jones -- whose numerous credits include Batman Returns and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (as the title character) -- is perhaps best known for his work with Guillermo del Toro, including Pan's Labyrinth, The Strain and playing Abe Sapien in both Hellboy films. The actor, who's garnered much acclaim for his highly physical performances, often under makeup and prosthetics, will be seen later this year in his continuing role as an alien in Falling Skies' fifth and final season," writes IGN.
The villain will be featured in Episode 19 of 'Arrow' Season 3 entitled, "Broken Arrow."
