'Arrow' News: Producer Explains Constantine's Role In Upcoming Season
The recent news of Constantine coming to 'Arrow' in the upcoming fall season excited many fans yet aroused many questions.
While both 'Constantine' and 'Arrow' are both DC Comic property, the fact that their shows aired on different networks made the option of an interconnected universe a slight gray area, however now that 'Constantine' has been discontinued, his character is available to roam free in the "Arrow-verse."
In an interview with IGN, 'Arrow' executive producer, Wendy Mericle, spoke a bit on what Constantine's inclusion meant for the series.
"It was born more out of the storyline for Sara Lance, she said. "We needed someone to come in and help bring her back. He felt like the most exciting possibility and we're just thrilled to get him. He brings such a different element to the show."
'Arrow' will be delving more into mysticism with their fourth season, and seeing how we all know Caity Lotz will be back to reprise her role as Sara Lance after she was seen deceased, they're hoping to employ the use of Constantine to bring her back to life.
Mericle goes on to confirm that the version of Constantine we see on 'Arrow' will be the same we became familiar with in the NBC television series.
"Absolutely. He is coming in fully as who he was on the show. We're getting wardrobe. We're very excited to have him. He's a tremendous actor. It's so cool to have that cross-pollination. We are very lucky and DC was very generous letting us have him."
The executive producer also states not knowing if they'll have the character back after the aforementioned episode.
"Right now, it really was -- it's born out of necessity for this particular story. I think Mark was right, it is a one off and this is what we're focusing on right now."
Constantine will appear in the fifth episode of season 4 titled "Haunted."
