'ARK: Survival Evolved' Update: 'Survival Of The Fittest' Gets Bundled, Free Version Removed

Studio Wildcard recently released a major update on its plans for "ARK: Survival of the Fittest" for the PC. It was also recently announced that there would be a delay for the PlayStation 4 but it was promised that the game will merge to the original version of the game on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC platforms.

According to Gamespot, Studio Wildcard co-founder Jeremy Stieglitz says the original game, "ARK: Survival Evolved," has sold about 1.5 million copies on the Xbox One and 4 million on the PC. He added that the game has performed well in the first year.

However, the co-founder of the game described it as a "double-edged sword;" saying that "it kind of raises expectations about how ambitious the game is going to be, and how large of a scope it is going to have when it is finished."

According to Steam Community, Studio Wildcard said that it is extremely vital to have "Survival of the Fittest" (SotF), which was released as a free stand-along game on PC earlier this year, back as an internal part of the "ARK: Survival Evolved" package. The reason for this is the release of the game's Development Kit. Also, a reason for this is to avoid licensing issues.

"As we look to the future of 'SotF,' we came to a decision: 'Survival of the Fittest' will be brought back internally as part of the 'ARK: Survival Evolved package,'" Studio Wildcard said in a blog post.

The studio added that "for technical functionality it will still exist as its own application." For those who already have "SotF," they can still play it, however it will instead be under the "ARK: Survival Evolved" product group.

There is no confirmation yet on the release date of "Survival Evolved" for the PS4.
