Ariana Grande and Bette Midler Feud? Twitter Post Singer Says She's ‘Always A Fan’ Despite Harsh Words

Ariana Grande responded to Bette Midler's recent and controversial comment through a tweet, saying that she will still remain a fan of the singer-actress despite her harsh words.

Midler criticized Grande and her artistic image during an interview with The Guardian. After being asked about how pop music was now laden with over-sexualized connotations, Midler singled out the 21-year-old singer, called her "ridiculous" while "slithering around on a couch," and then proceeded to emulate it by doing some slithering of her own.

"It's silly beyond belief and I don't know who's telling her to do it," Midler said, "I'm not her mother. Or her manager."

"Sex sells. Sex has always sold," she also said, and then adding, "You don't have to make a [expletive] out of yourself to get ahead."

Grande reportedly felt shocked, hurt, and indignant by what Midler said. A source said that Grande was a big fan of Midler and mentioned that the 68-year-old did the same thing back in the seventies.

Grande has responded with a comment of her own by sending out a tweet on Wednesday.

"Bette was always a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judgement!" she wrote.

She then posted a picture of Midler in a mermaid get up, saying she will always be a fan of the 'Hocus Pocus' actress. She will also continue to quote the 1996 film 'The First Wives Club' where Midler starred.

Midler also wrote her own tweet about her "screed" on Grande. She said, "All I can say is 'Spoken like a reformed old [expletive]! She does have a beautiful voice, on a couch or off.'."

Grande recently performed at 2014 American Music Awards while, Midler, on the other hand, is set to start her tour and will make be making an appearance on television movie 'The Third Coast'.
