'Aquaman' Movie News: Upcoming Film Unveils More of Superhero’s Cool, Badass Side
The superhero crossovers in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" were spectacular moments, and fans can only look forward to see the little cameos starring in their own stand-alone movies in the future. One of them is the President of the United States, whose did not appear in the movie but was heard speaking in the background during the climactic battle in "Dawn of Justice."
A frequent collaborator of "Aquaman" director James Wan, Patrick Wilson is expected to play the role of the President of the United States in the upcoming DC Comics film.
Asked about Wilson's role in his next movie, Wan said: "You just might! That is a house of cards. That is one with a lot of story strains and story plot. Whether you go work in DC or go work at Marvel, the sandbox is kind of established and you kind of have to play within the sandbox. The key is to, hopefully, when you're in the sandbox, to create your own castle."
While "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" received generally negative reception from critics for being too heavy and dark, Wan promises that "Aquaman" will be fun.
"The kind of filmmaker that I am, even my darker horror films are still very fun. And I think that's important for me and the kind of films I make," he said.
He further revealed that his upcoming movie will showcase more of Aquaman's cool and badass side, contrary to the character that most people have been making fun of over the years.
The "Aquaman" movie will follow the first installation of "Justice League" and will star Jason Mamoa. It is scheduled to be released on July 27, 2018.
