'Aquaman' Cast News: Patrick Wilson Is Aquaman's Half-Brother Orm a.k.a. Ocean Master

Patrick Wilson of "Watchmen" and "Insidious" has been tapped to play an important role in the upcoming DC superhero film, "Aquaman."

Wilson will play Orm, the evil half-brother of Aquaman who was first introduced in the 1940s, in the adaptation of the popular DC comics. In the original comics, Orm is also known as the Ocean Master. He is the human half-brother of Aquaman who is also a rival for the throne of Atlantis. He is known for ravaging the high seas, regularly causing trouble for the underwater superhero.

Warner Bros. has yet to confirm if Orm will be good or bad in the film, or if he will take on the guise of Ocean Master, but there are speculations that he will be the biggest villain in the film as he resembles the character of Loki in "Thor."

Aside from Wilson, Amber Heard has also been tapped to play Mera, the love interest of Aquaman.

The Warner Bros.' adaptation of the "Aquaman" comic will be directed by "Furious 7" director James Wan and produced by Peter Safran. Its executive producers are Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder and Rob Cowan.

Last year, Warner Bros. revealed that in the upcoming film, the titular character would be caught between a surface world that constantly destroys the sea, and the Atlanteans of the undersea who are all geared up for a revolution.

Wilson, who also starred in "Conjuring 2," currently appears on FX's "Fargo."

"Aquaman" is expected to hit theaters on Oct. 5, 2018.
