Apple Watch 2 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Second-Gen Smartwatch To Launch In September, Feature Cellular Connectivity?

In line with Apple's upcoming Apple Watch 2, it is rumored that the second generation smart watch is set to be released in the third quarter of 2016. Also, Apple has unveiled its most recent update on the WatchOS 2, along with the watch's own connectivity properties.

Apple is set to release its Apple Watch 2 in the market in September, Ecumenical News has learned. As per the publication, the timing is at par with the release of the much-anticipated iPhone 7. Rumors also suggest that Apple fans and users may have the first look at the second generation smart watch at the World Wide Developers Conference in June in San Francisco.

The Cupertino-based company has yet to confirm the official release date for the Apple Watch 2; thus, the aforementioned timeline just stands as a possibility.

In other news, Apple has also released the latest upgrade for the WatchOS 2, according to Apple's official website. The said update, which is called watchOS 2.2.1, revolves on the security content of the device. As per the publication, it addresses an issue on handling return values in CCCrypt, null pointer dereference, a race condition, and memory corruption issues in disk image parsing, among others.

In terms of specifications, rumors also revealed that the Apple Watch 2 will gain its own cellular connectivity, which means that the second generation smart watch is set to be a wearable of its own.

As per Ecumenical News, the Watch 2 will have the power to send messages or make calls to the user's contacts. This feature is in addition to the smart watch's 3G and 4G properties and health tracking features.

At this point, fans are yet to wait until Apple Watch 2 is released in September.
