Apple Watch 2 Release Date Rumors, News: Upcoming Smartwatch Makes FaceTime Possible?
More news and rumors are coming out in relation to the Apple Watch 2, including what is promised to be a better battery life.
According to the report, the decision by the tech company to shift to micro LED panels from OLED will only help extend the battery life of the Apple Watch 2. Aside from the battery life, it will also help ensure a more vibrant display that is able to support higher resolutions.
Aside from that, micro LED also allows the company to make an even thinner device. It's also reported to be more independent of the iPhone, which means the user need not be connected to his or her smartphone.
MacRumors said the LED panels can work without the backlight unlike in the OLED. However, there's a price to pay for the shift as the new technology is more expensive compared to the traditional LCD display.
Previous news article pointed to Apple acquiring LuxVue Technology two years ago. The company has been producing micro LED display prior to being bought out.
"One of the company's investors at the time said it had 'a technical breakthrough in displays,' it said.
Meanwhile, the latest news revealed that the Apple Watch 2 will feature f ront-facing snapper which will allow the user to FaceTime.
"The new FaceTime camera is said to be integrated into the top bezel of the Apple Watch 2," it said, although quickly adding that it's very hard to picture out people talking via FaceTime through the watch.
The Apple Watch 2 is said to have a release date of September 2016.
